The EDUCATOR

THE TEACHER IS ALSO A LEARNER

Some of the most colorful moments in my life were spent with my students. They gave me reasons to learn more than reasons to teach. I had to admit, some of the most significant decisions I made in my life were also taught by them. I was able to learn how to “smell the flowers rather than taught them how to draw one”, quite literally and figuratively.

I became a teacher not because I didn’t have any choice but because it was my choice. I was already working in the corporate world when a career change became an inevitable decision.

I consider teaching not a work but rather a vocation where I was able to grow more as a person and an opportunity to live life in a different perspective. I spent most of my life in school learning about life. But I have never realized that being an educator is indeed a great chance to experience life in entirely different level.

A colleague of mine once sent me a text message that said… students won’t remember you for the lessons that you administered but for the times you spent and cared for them.

As I ponder on the thoughts and when I look at these photos, I’ve realized that they were the ones who made a difference in me.
